## Summary

The British Council has announced the Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) programme, seeking UK-based suppliers to enhance English language teaching and learning in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The project, funded by the FCDO, spans from 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2025. Key activities in Uzbekistan include integrating continuous professional development (CPD) in teacher training curricula, school-based CPD in 100 schools, and organizing a UK study tour for 24 participants. In Kazakhstan, the project targets building the capacity of English Language Teacher (ELT) course designers. Additionally, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in Uzbekistan will receive support for a national CPD induction programme, and a scoping study will be conducted across Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Interested bidders must express interest by 9 September 2024. This is an open procedure (below threshold) with the contractual period starting on 1 October 2024 and ending on 31 March 2025.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses involved in education consultancy and service provision, particularly those specialising in teacher training and curriculum development. Enterprises that excel in creating professional development programmes and educational materials will find this opportunity promising. The outlined activities suggest significant scope for collaborative projects, mentoring, and training development in an international context, which can help businesses expand their portfolio and establish a presence in Central Asia. This procurement is geared towards medium to large enterprises, as suitability criteria do not favour SMEs or VCSEs. Businesses with capabilities in planning and executing large-scale educational projects stand to benefit most from this tender.

## Notice

The British Council is seeking UK-based suppliers to support the implementation of the FCDO-funded Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) programme. This initiative aims to enhance English language teaching and learning across Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan through several key activities over a 5.5-month period from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. In Uzbekistan, the supplier will focus on embedding continuous professional development (CPD) into the pre-service teacher training curricula. This involves training national curriculum writers to incorporate reflective practices and developing CPD training materials, which will be piloted in 20 institutions. Additionally, the supplier will introduce school-based CPD approaches in 100 schools, involving revising existing training materials, training CPD champions and consultants, and providing ongoing support and mentoring. A study tour to the UK will also be organized for 24 participants to enhance their understanding of CPD practices. In Kazakhstan, the supplier will work to build the capacity of English Language Teacher (ELT) course designers. This includes designing and delivering a training programme for 20 course designers, supervising the creation of new ELT courses, and developing an ELT course design handbook. Furthermore, the supllier will support the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in Uzbekistan in implementing a national CPD induction programme as per a Presidential Decree. This includes developing the programme's concept and content, training national trainers, and providing implementation recommendations. Lastly, a scoping study will be conducted to map CPD practices and assess needs in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, culminating in recommendations for future interventions.
