## Summary

Transport for London (TfL) is currently engaged in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "TfL 94383 - Directly Connected Low Carbon Energy". This initiative aims to explore options for sourcing low carbon energy to meet the growing electrical demands in London. Interested parties must submit their responses by the deadline of 12:00 pm on 16 November 2018 through TfL's e-tendering portal. This project falls within the energy sector, specifically focusing on electricity and public utilities, and is being conducted in London, United Kingdom.

Companies with expertise in direct energy sourcing, low carbon technologies, and energy efficiency initiatives would find this procurement particularly well-suited to their capabilities. By engaging with TfL on this initiative, businesses can contribute to London's environmental goals while potentially securing long-term contracts and collaborations in the growing low carbon energy market.

## Notice

Transport for London (TfL) is issuing this market engagement document in the form of a Prior Information Notice (PIN). This PIN is issued solely for the purposes of the market engagement. This PIN does not constitute a call for competition to procure any services, supplies or works for TfL and TfL is not bound to accept any proposals offered. Further information regarding this PIN can be found on TfL's eTendering portal https://procontract.due-north.com. This PIN is not an invitation to tender. Its purpose is to allow interested parties with appropriate experience to participate in the development of Transport for London's integrated energy strategy the strategic objective of which, is as follows: "In response to the dual financial and environmental energy challenge, TfL will pursue a collation of initiatives prioritised both on financial payback and ability to significantly reduce carbon emissions with the aim of meeting the Mayor's zero carbon agenda and supporting the electrification of road transport to improve London's Air Quality" TfL has a large, predictable and long term electrical energy demand and is exploring a wide range of options to reduce the cost and carbon emissions of the energy supply and future energy sourcing. One option is to source electricity from low carbon and environmentally sustainable energy sources, to meet a proportion of its current and future forecast electricity demand by way of direct connection. Diversifying the energy supply across varied sources and procurement arrangements may achieve financial benefits, hedge against the prospect of rising energy prices and deliver carbon savings. The benefits of this approach to both TfL and London are: - a direct contribution to achieving the Mayoral Zero Carbon Agenda, - cost efficiencies through avoidance of network related charges, - increased security and diversity of its energy supply, - potential mitigation against energy price risk, - developing a source of low carbon energy generation in London. To assist in the delivery of this strategy, TfL is looking to explore with interested parties: 1) Potential opportunities to connect directly with existing or imminently and viably developed suppliers; 2) The high level feasibility of any direct connection; 3) The environmental benefits a direct connection could provide and 4) The cost benefits a direct connection could yield. PIN Response Deadline: Interested parties must submit their response to this PIN online via TfL's e-tendering portal https://procontract.due-north.com. If you are not a registered supplier on the portal we recommend you register as a supplier as responses outside of this method will not be considered. Please submit your response by 12:00 pm 16.11.2018. Any technical questions or requests for clarification regarding this market engagement should be submitted via the TfL e-tendering portal. The deadline for clarification questions is 12:00 pm 9.11.2018.
