The project is to be delivered along Elder Way, and at its junctions with Saltergate, Knifesmithgate and Packers Row. This is a busy retail and commercial area with high numbers of pedestrians, buses, taxis and other vehicles passing through. The works broadly involve: o Carriageway resurfacing o The reconstruction of existing footways and paved areas, with a mix of high quality paving materials. o Pavement widening - to create spill out opportunities for outlets located in the ground floor units of the Elder Way development. o Pedestrian crossing improvements. o The de-cluttering of the street scene, by removing obstacles to pedestrian movement. o The introduction of trees into the street. o Introduction / improved design of loading bays. o Maintaining bus movement along Elder Way. o Taxi rank improvements on Knifesmithgate.
