With funding support from the European Regional Development Fund, the Centre launched the 'Innovating for Growth' programme in late 2011 to focus on providing support to growth businesses, as opposed to start ups. Innovating for Growth - Phase 1 was completed in December 2015. Innovating for Growth - Phase 2 is due to start service delivery in May 2016, subject to final funding approval. The 'Innovating for Growth - Scale-ups' programme aims to use the Centre's unique resources and expertise to help high-growth businesses scale up, through developing new products and services and entering new markets. Each SME completes a number of face-to-face support modules through a combination of one-to-one meetings and workshops, which are tailored to the SME's needs. The face-to-face support, combined with practical workshops, is designed to accelerate each SMEs progress to the next stage. The Business & IP Centre's information professionals alongside selected delivery partners will help each SME to put together a growth strategy and plan for their business, as well as identifying the workshops and one-to-one's each SME will need to attend to hone their business knowledge and skills.
