## Summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust procured engineering inspection services for its engineering plant and machinery at its premises and locations in Nottingham. The requirement covers regular statutory inspections to check that equipment remains safe, compliant with current regulatory requirements and in good working order. The scope includes, but is not limited to, lifts, lifting equipment and pressure systems. Inspections are intended to identify machinery defects or damage risks, support regulatory compliance and help protect people using or working around the equipment. This is a services contract for a healthcare organisation, with work delivered across the Trust’s relevant engineering plant and machinery locations.

The procurement is complete and the contract was awarded on 17 August 2026 to British Engineering Services Limited. It was run as a selective call-off from a framework agreement. The tender deadline was 1 June 2026 at 12:00. The awarded value is £330,000. The contract period runs from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2031, comprising an initial 36-month term with an option for two further 12-month extensions. The stated estimated value range was £198,000 minimum to £330,000 maximum. The opportunity was identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and was not reserved for voluntary, community or social enterprises.

For suppliers assessing future healthcare engineering inspection work, this award demonstrates recurring demand for statutory examination of lifts, lifting equipment, pressure systems and other engineering plant within a large NHS estate. A credible competitor would need the technical capability and operational capacity to inspect varied plant and machinery, identify defects or damage risks, and produce work that supports regulatory compliance and safe operation. Annual inspection requirements mean suppliers must be able to plan repeat visits, manage records and respond consistently across multiple premises and locations. The successful supplier is a large engineering services business, while the opportunity was considered suitable for SMEs, indicating that appropriately capable specialist inspection firms may also be relevant when this buyer’s requirement returns.
