## Summary

GO Shared Services is overseeing the procurement process for the "Ecological Surveys for the Lydney Docks/Harbour/Canal/River Lyd Corridor" project, which is categorised under services related to endangered species protection. This tender has reached the Award stage, with an active award made to Abbey Sanders Ecology on 17 May 2017. The contract period is set from 1 May 2017 to 1 December 2017, following a tender period that ended on 24 April 2017. The project is located in the South West region of the United Kingdom and has a total value of £15,000, funded to aid public realm improvements to promote investment in the Lydney Docks area.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in ecological assessments and environmental strategies. Businesses positioned to compete effectively in this tender are those that can demonstrate expertise in conducting ecological surveys, particularly those related to endangered species and landscape protection services. As this project aims to enhance infrastructure and visitor facilities, firms with capabilities in ecological consulting and landscape protection will find this a valuable opportunity to contribute to meaningful community enhancements while expanding their business profiles.

## Notice

Provision of Ecological Surveys as part of the Lydney 'Eyes Right' project. The Lydney Coastal Community Team (LCCT) has bid for capital funding to undertake a range of public realm and visitor facility improvements at Lydney Docks and Harbour to enable further private sector investment at adjacent sites. The focus of our "Eyes Right" project is to encourage anyone travelling from the A48 roundabout to enjoy the industrial heritage at Dean Forest Railway, the canal setting and views out to the Severn Estuary. The project will be delivered in two phases, the bid currently being considered is to deliver Phase 1 of the project. Improvements within the bid include; building refurbishment and new build to create an interactive heritage information point & toilet facilities, highway re-surfacing, creation of a shared pedestrian and cycle track, lighting scheme, installation of new mooring and fishing points, landscape improvements and phased dredging of the canal. The funding bid was submitted in December 2016, and we expect an outcome in Spring this year. As part of the bid submission a Landscape & Environmental Strategy was developed and has helped inform what ecological surveys are required for the project area. Should the bid be successful LCCT will need to be in a position to commence work as soon as possible. One of the first elements of work will be to undertake a number of required ecological surveys. An Ecological Scoping Assessment has been completed and is attached.
