## Summary

The University of Sheffield has awarded a contract for the purchase of a longitudinal household panel dataset comprising 30,000 households in Great Britain. The dataset includes information on purchases of alcoholic drinks, including non-alcoholic and low alcohol drinks, between 2018 and 2025. The contract, using a 'Negotiated procedure without a prior call for competition,' was valued at £223,825 GBP and falls under the services category. The tender period ended on 26th July 2022, with the contract running from 27th July 2022 to 31st July 2026. The buyer and contracting authority is the University of Sheffield, located in Sheffield, Yorkshire and the Humber, United Kingdom.

This opportunity to provide disaggregated data for no/low alcohol drinks presents business growth potential for companies specializing in market and economic research, polling, and statistics. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are well-suited to compete in this tender as the University of Sheffield has indicated suitability for SMEs. Businesses interested in conducting sociodemographic analyses and statistical research on purchasing trends in non-alcoholic and low-alcohol drinks would find this tender particularly relevant. The procurement method employed was a 'Negotiated procedure without prior publication above threshold,' creating an avenue for selected suppliers to secure long-term data research contracts for the specified dataset.

## Notice

The University of Sheffield has contracted for the purchase of a longitudinal household panel dataset comprising 30,000 households in Great Britain and containing information on purchases of alcoholic drinks, including non-alcoholic and low alcohol drinks, that are brought into the home. The required dataset covers the period 2018 to 2025 and includes information on the sociodemographic characteristics of the households, as well as the products purchased and prices paid. The University of Sheffield will use the dataset to conduct statistical analyses of trends and patterns in purchasing of non-alcoholic and low-alcohol drink purchasing over time, and the relationship of this to purchasing of other alcoholic drinks. This work forms part of a larger programme of research to understand the public health impact of non-alcoholic and low-alcoholic drinks in the UK. The intention to award a contract as a 'Negotiated procedure without a prior call for competition' was previously published as a Voluntary ex ante transparency notice (reference: 2022/S 000-0015965) on 10/06/2022.
