## Summary

The General Optical Council (GOC) is seeking a market research agency to conduct qualitative research into the lived experiences of patients and GOC-registered optometrists and dispensing opticians. The procurement process falls under the "Research and development services and related consultancy services" industry category and is being managed under an open procedure. The project is based in London, with the postal code EC4M 7NG. Key dates include the tender deadline at 5pm on 29 October 2024, and the project's contract period from 4 November 2024 to 31 March 2025. The budget for this project is capped at £70,000 including VAT and related costs, and proposals exceeding this amount will not be considered.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for market research agencies, especially those with experience in healthcare or social research. The project could significantly align with businesses specialising in qualitative research, offering them a chance to delve into the diverse experiences of various patient groups and healthcare professionals. With an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by disabled individuals, ethnic minorities, and those in difficult life circumstances, this tender is well-suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) looking to expand their portfolios and establish themselves within the public sector space.

## Notice

We are seeking a market research agency to conduct qualitative research into the lived experiences of particular patient and GOC registrant groups and the difficulties they face in accessing, using, or delivering eye care. Patients * GOC research suggests that some patient groups (such as those with a disability, ethnic minorities and those experiencing difficult life circumstances such as financial or personal difficulties) report greater difficulties in accessing and using eye care services. GOC registrants * GOC research suggests that particular groups of optometrists and dispensing opticians (such as those with a disability, females and ethnic minorities) are more likely to experience challenging working conditions which can impact on their ability to deliver safe patient care. We have an approved budget of up to PS70,000 including VAT and all other contractor costs. Proposals over PS70,000 will not be considered. The deadline for tenders is 5pm 29 October, with a view to delivering the final report by the end of March 2025.
