## Summary

The Ministry of Defence is currently conducting a procurement process for the "Ruggedised Oxygen Generator" in London, UK. This project falls under the goods category and is classified as an oxygen administration unit. The procurement method employed is a selective, or restricted procedure, with the tender period closing on 13th July 2018. The total value of the contract is £113,000, with a minimum value of £10,000, and the contract period is set to commence on 25th September 2018 and conclude on 31st January 2019.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical equipment, particularly those capable of producing lightweight and rugged oxygen delivery systems with high safety standards. Businesses that can meet the outlined specifications, such as delivering over 5 litres of oxygen per minute and ensuring the safety of their systems in hazardous conditions, will find this an advantageous prospect. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate and can benefit from the government's focus on providing accessible solutions within the healthcare sector.

## Notice

The project will procure an oxygen delivery system optimised for the end user in order to safely and viably deliver therapeutic oxygen in a ballistic environment such that there is no additional risk to the casualty or responder posed by proximity to the oxygen source. In particular, the oxygen source must not explode or combust if punctured by bullet or blast. The oxygen system must be able to deliver greater than 5 litres of oxygen per minute for a minimum 20 minutes. Ideally the system will be able to deliver variable flow rates or inspired oxygen concentrations to allow titration of oxygen to maintain a peripheral oxygen saturation between 92-94%. The system must be safe to transport, safe to carry and safe to use, delivering medical grade oxygen of at least 99.5% purity and being lightweight, rugged and compact. The system should have a long shelf life and be CE marked. The initial contract will be for circa 39 units, these units will be trialed and tested by the user in representative operational and environmental conditions. The contract will include an option to procure the units which will only be taken up provided the systems pass the user trials.
