## Summary

The procurement process for the "Safety Case and Peer Review Support" services has been completed, initiated by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), which operates the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in Oxfordshire. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically classed as engineering support services. The contract stage is now marked as 'Award', with the final contracts awarded on 2nd December 2020. The awarded contracts are set to commence on 1st January 2021, with an end date of 31st December 2023, providing a significant duration for service delivery.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses that specialise in engineering support, safety consultancy, and technical analysis services. Companies with expertise in safety case support and peer review processes, particularly larger contractors, would be well-positioned to leverage this opportunity and contribute to the UK's fusion research initiatives. With consortium collaborations and a focus on innovative experiments, suppliers in these technical sectors may find substantial growth potential through engagements with the UK's national laboratory for fusion research.

## Notice

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority owns and operates the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) which is the UK's national laboratory for fusion research. CCFE is based at Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire. The Authority is responsible for the operation of the JET (Joint European Torus) facilities, via a contract between itself and the European Commission. JET is the world's largest magnetic fusion experiment and is still at the forefront of fusion research and is closely involved in testing plasma physics, systems and materials for ITER. The JET facilities are collectively used by all European fusion laboratories under the EUROfusion consortium. About 350 scientists from Europe, plus more from around the globe, participate in JET experiments each year, co-ordinated by a programme management unit. The UK fusion programme is centred on the innovative MAST (Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak) experiment which is also based at CCFE and employs around 150 people. In support of the above work, the Authority has a requirement for the Supply of Safety Case and Peer Review Support Services. The Client has awarded two contracts to two Suppliers. One Supplier will receive a contract for Safety Case Support; and a further Supplier will receive a contract for Peer Review Support.
