Only in very particular, agreed circumstances will either another site or payment in lieu of onsite provision be considered as an acceptable alternative." The SPD refers to such payments being held by the Council in a ring-fenced Affordable Housing Fund. To date, the Borough Council of Newcastle-under-Lyme (The Council) has received GBP 239,114.10, in affordable housing contributions. The Council intends to make this sum available to a Registered Provider (RP), to enable them to develop and acquire affordable housing. The contract award will be made to the successful Registered Provider but monies will be retained in an account and paid upon the actual completion of the development.
