## Summary

Leeds City Council is currently seeking bids for the "Leeds Interim Leaving Care and Vulnerable Young People Accommodation and Support (16-25 years) Framework" under an open procurement process. The tender, which falls within the social work and related services sector, has a budget of £3,000,000 and is aimed at providing essential support and accommodation for young individuals leaving care. The tender period is set to conclude on 8th October 2018, with a contract start date anticipated for 19th December 2018, lasting until 31st January 2020. This initiative is focused on the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in social services, housing support, and related areas to grow and enhance their service offerings. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-suited to compete, as the project aims to foster collaboration and innovative solutions for improving the life chances of vulnerable young people. Engaging in this framework could allow businesses to expand their impact while contributing to social welfare in their communities.

## Notice

The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 amended the Children Act 1989 and this, along with the Care Leavers (England) Regulations 2010 and the Children Social Work Act 2017 increased the powers and duties on Local Authorities to better support young people leaving care through support and accommodation arrangements to improve the life chances of young people leaving local authority care. Its main aims are to delay a young person's discharge from care until they are prepared and ready to leave, to improve the assessment, preparation and planning for leaving care, to provide better personal support for young people after leaving care and to improve the financial arrangements for young people in and leaving care.
