## Summary

The Department for Education, based in Darlington, has completed the procurement process for the CISD DevSecOps Capability Support Service, which falls under the information technology services category. This contract focuses on enhancing cyber security measures within England's education sector. The awarded contract, valued at £4,752,000, will involve integrating automated security controls to defend against evolving cyber threats. Managed through a selective procurement method as a call-off from a framework agreement, the procurement process culminated with the award of the contract to Transform UK, effective from 29th May 2026 until 28th May 2028. The initiative reflects the Department’s ongoing efforts to secure educational infrastructure against sophisticated threats.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in DevSecOps and cyber security services. Companies adept in providing advanced security controls, automated solutions, and secure design practices will find this contract beneficial in enhancing their market presence. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as social enterprises (VCSEs), are particularly encouraged to engage in these opportunities, showcasing innovative security solutions to meet the Department for Education's cyber security demands. The contract allows participating businesses to collaborate alongside other suppliers and civil servants, fostering a robust ecosystem for cyber security development within the public sector.

## Notice

The Department for Education is responsible for children's services and education, including early years, schools, higher and further education policy, apprenticeships and wider skills in England. Cyber and Information Security Division (CISD) is a centralised function within DfE that uses people, processes, technology, and intelligence to identify and respond to operational cyber threats. The Department is facing increasing demands to secure systems, applications, and infrastructure against evolving threats. As cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated more advanced security practices such as DevSecOps and continuous monitoring are required. We are looking to put in place a commercial agreement for specialists to work closely in multi-disciplinary teams with other suppliers and civil servants to augment our Cyber Security capabilities within CISD. The resources required will be to support the integration of automated security controls into pipelines, enabling shift left security and secure by design practices and supporting development teams with secure tooling and configuration. The services aim to improve automation and operational security effectiveness across all digital platforms and services.
