## Summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has awarded a contract to Midland Medical Services Ltd (MMS) for the servicing and maintenance of the medical gas pipeline system (MGPS) at the Queen's Medical Centre, located in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom. The procurement falls under the industry category of repair and maintenance services of mechanical building installations (CPV 50712000). This tender has progressed to the award stage, with the contract period spanning from 1st May 2025 to 30th April 2030. Key dates include the award date on 16 April 2025 and the tender end date on 15 April 2025. The procurement method employed is selective, specifically a call-off from the NHS Shared Business Services (NHSSBS) SBS10166 Hard Facilities Management 2 Framework.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in medical gas systems maintenance and servicing. With a contract value of £590,000 and a potential extension of up to three additional years, companies in the relevant sectors can anticipate steady business growth and long-term engagement. The critical nature of the services, which include planned preventative maintenance and reactive call-outs, means that businesses capable of ensuring the safety and reliability of medical gas systems will find this tender particularly suitable. Considering the provided opportunity, organisations with relevant expertise and compliance capabilities are well-positioned to compete effectively. While Midland Medical Services Ltd (MMS) is the current supplier, larger enterprises due to the contract's scale may find the next phases of the procurement process beneficial for business expansion.

## Notice

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (The Trust) has awarded a contract for ongoing servicing and maintenance of the medical gas pipeline system (MGPS) located at the Queen's Medical Centre (The Services). An MGPS comprises a source of supply, pipeline distribution system, terminal units (to which the user connects and disconnects medical equipment) and a warning/alarm system. Systems include for, but are not limited to, provision of: oxygen, nitrous oxide and medical air for respiratory and surgical applications. To ensure the MGPS operates safely and reliably, the Trust requires a contractor to provide regular planned preventative maintenance to mitigate risks of faults or failures occurring as well as reactive maintenance services, such as call outs. A minor issue, such as a leak in the pipeline for example, may have major consequences such as patient fatality as a result of oxygen deprivation. The purpose of the Services is to ensure the Trust complies with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 02-01 as well as applicable standards and relevant legislation. The objective is to ensure the provision of safe and reliable MGPS for administering of medical gases (E.g. oxygen) to patients under the care of the Trust. The Term is 24 months to 30 April 2027 with the option to extend for a further 36 months. This extension shall take the form of three 12 month incremental periods. The Contract has been procured via direct award as permitted via Sub-Lot 8.5 under Lot 8 (Ancillary Estates Services) of the NHS Shared Business Services (NHSSBS) SBS10166 Hard Facilities Management 2 Framework. https://www.sbs.nhs.uk/services/framework-agreements/hard-facilities-management-2-hard-fm/
