## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract titled "Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Training and Assurance Application" to MODUX Limited for the development of an application aimed at enhancing the training and assurance of service personnel. This procurement falls under the category of miscellaneous software development services (CPV code: 72212900) and is part of a selective procurement method via a call-off from a framework agreement. The contract value is set at £24,000, with the contract period commencing on 1st June 2021 and concluding on 2nd July 2021. The tender period ended on 13th May 2021, and the contract was awarded on 20th May 2021.

This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for businesses engaged in software development, particularly those specialising in applications for defence or training technologies. Companies with experience in developing user-friendly applications that provide quantitative data and feedback systems would be well-suited to compete. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, as this contract aims to foster innovation and improve operational capabilities within military training practices.

## Notice

MOD require an app developer to create an app to support the training and assurance of service persons using ground search detectors in a counter improvised explosive device (C-IED) role. There is currently no ability to provide quantitative feedback on the use of ground search detectors to the users and their commanders. The ability to correctly use a detector is critical in ensuring the threats are detected. Data to enable an understanding of how a detector is being swung in three dimensions (relative to the ground) and where the user is located in relation to the rest of the team is not currently available. The user and their commander will need feedback from the application to enable training and assurance. A training detector is being developed to solve this problem and generate the data required using commercial sensors and hardware. An application is required to support the sensors and hardware in generating the quantitative data and feedback. The users and their commanders will be able to access a visual representation of the data collected by the sensors via an app to enhance both training and assurance processes. Award documentation being published for transparency purposes only.
