This will offer dental professionals the opportunity to share the challenges they face in delivering NHS dental services and how as commissioners we can identify opportunities to support the development of NHS dental services and increase provision in the district of Lewes. As part of this plan we aim to increase access in targeted areas of need in Sussex. Since Lewes has seen a reduction in the provision of NHS dental services, we are convening a dental professional engagement event on the 7 November 2024. The event is aimed at current and prospective primary care dental providers in Sussex and is intended to: * Provide NHS Sussex dental commissioners with a better understanding of the current challenges facing NHS dental services in Lewes. * Listen to dental providers who are interested in providing primary NHS dental services in Lewes about current and future delivery of services in the area. * Explain the current situation regarding access to primary dental services. * Identify barriers and opportunities to help facilitate access to NHS dental services in the area. * Identify opportunities to build resilience in dental services in the area, including using flexible commissioning to address local population oral health needs. The event will assist the Commissioners to achieve a better understanding of the provider market. It will be an opportunity to meet with the Commissioners and stakeholders, hear more about NHS dental services in East Sussex and discuss the critical issues, challenges and opportunities that relate to future commissioning and provision of these services. This exercise is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioner.
