The programme aims to support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through a work-based study programme starting in September 2023. The programme will be structured to offer a substantial work placement leading to paid employment. The tender deadline for this opportunity is noon on 11th May 2023. This tender requires collaboration with various organisations and emphasizes the development of skills for young individuals to enter the workforce successfully. ## Notice Birmingham City Council's (BCC) Children's and Young People's Directorate, 14-19 Full Participation and Skills Team will be running a Supported Internship (SI) Programme which will start in September 2023. The Supported Internship Programme will offer a structured work-based study programme that will support young people 16- to 24-year-olds with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and/or who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). As part of the programme we require an Employment Provider who will work in collaboration with the 14-19 Team, the host placement, and the Education Provider to offer the provision of Job Coaches whose role will be to provide a valuable link between the host placement and Intern ensuring any concerns from either party are addressed and will assist with many aspects of employment services, including helping the intern to build their skills for the job role and breaking tasks down into manageable bite-sized chunks. The Job Coach will provide on-site training and ensure that information is presented to the interns in a format that they are able to understand. This includes the co-ordination of progress reports between the host placement and the Intern. The Job Coach will build trust between themselves and the intern so that they are able to support the interns interests, health and wellbeing to enable them to reach their full potential. The aim of the programme is to offer a substantial work placement that will lead to paid employment. The 14-19 Team are working in collaboration with DFN Project Search, The National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI), the Department for Education (DfE) and British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) who are our funding and delivery support partners.
