## Summary

The Manchester Metropolitan University is currently undertaking a public procurement process titled "Equipment for the ERDF Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre." This initiative falls under the category of goods, specifically focusing on fuel cells and scientific installations. The tender is at the active stage and has a critical deadline for submissions, which is 12 noon on Monday, 5th June 2017. The contract is set to commence on 20th July 2017 and will run until 19th July 2020, with the procurement method being an open procedure. The location for delivery is in Manchester's North West region (postal code M15 6BH).

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the advanced materials and fuel cell industries. Companies specialising in manufacturing modular fuel cell units and hydrogen generation facilities would be particularly well-suited to compete. Participation would not only provide a chance to supply innovative products but also involve collaboration in research and development activities focused on enhancing fuel cell technology. Moreover, suppliers from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, potentially leading to growth and expansion in this emerging sector.

## Notice

The focus of the MFCIC is advanced materials for fuel cells. The University requires a suite of modular low power fuel cells units (PEM, SOFC, etc.) which can be used to test our materials and to conduct condition-monitoring experiments. A suite of cells and associated hydrogen generation facilities will also be required. These units will also be used in our teaching/training activities. A wide range of liquid and gaseous fuels can be reformed into hydrogen. Our activities in this field will include: i) exploring metallic and organic/inorganic catalyst materials produced via wet-chemical synthesis ii) bimetallic catalysts will also be explored where the active nanomaterial is immobilised onto larger micro materials which, results in greater surface areas but keep costs low; iii) exploring a range of mesoporous oxides as heterogeneous catalysts with varying compositions, surface structure and functionality towards clean-up efficiency iv) coating of identified catalysts onto a range of materials such as planar and 3D microstructures. A catalytic testing rig is required to measure the efficiency/effectiveness of our materials.
