## Summary

The University of Southampton has completed the award stage for the procurement of a motion analysis system, intended for research conducted by the School of Health Sciences. This contract falls under the medical imaging equipment industry category with additional classifications such as research and scientific technical simulator, industry-specific software, and motion picture services. The procurement process was conducted via a call-off from a framework agreement, following a selective method. Key dates include the tender period ending on 27th February 2025, with the contract period running from 14th March 2025 to 14th June 2030. The awarded contract is valued at £263,397.58 and will be delivered to Southampton, postal code SO17 1BJ. Vicon Motion System Limited has been appointed as the supplier.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in motion analysis systems, electromyography, and virtual reality. Companies that provide advanced imaging and simulation technologies for medical, educational, and research purposes would find this contract well-suited to their expertise. The framework agreement ensures that only organisations with demonstrated capabilities are eligible to compete, thus fostering a competitive environment for high-quality suppliers. This procurement can drive innovation in movement dysfunction screening and enhance educational tools for healthcare professionals, benefiting companies involved in cutting-edge research and product development.

## Notice

The School of Health Sciences has been using motion analysis for over 20 years. In that time, the technology has enabled the development of kinematic models for the analysis of hand and scapula movement, which have been widely adopted across academia and industry. Further research includes understanding functional changes following total knee replacement, understanding the mechanisms of changes in shoulder function following a motor control retraining exercise programme, the relationship between trunk control and upper limb function following stroke and validated a movement control screening of the hip and lower limb. The current motion analysis system, however, is now obsolete. To continue the high impact research undertaken by the research group a new motion analysis system with integrated electromyography is required. The research group aims to develop new avenues of research including the development of automatic screening tools for movement dysfunction, and the use of virtual reality for the education of healthcare professionals. Please note that only organisations appointed to the Framework Agreement (or their nominated partner/resellers) further identified by a capability assessment are eligible to participate in this Further Competition process. Your Further Competition Response should be submitted via In-Tend, by the date specified.
