## Summary

NHS England has initiated a tender for the delivery of a Prison Substance Use and Mental Health Needs Assessment across various prisons in the West Midlands, including HMP Birmingham and HMP Stafford. The procurement process, classified under health and social work services, is currently in the planning stage with bids due by 4 August 2017 at 12:00 hours. The contract is expected to commence on 30 August 2017 and will last until 19 December 2017. The NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit is overseeing this procurement.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health and social care, particularly those focused on mental health and substance use services. Companies with expertise in addressing the needs of diverse prison populations, including younger offenders and those with complex health issues, would be well-positioned to compete. The emphasis on collaborative working and holistic approaches may attract small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) aiming to support innovative service delivery in this critical sector.
