## Summary

The Science Museum Group is seeking contractors for the "Science Museum Levels 4 & 5 Enabling Works" project, part of a transformative initiative to create multifunctional event spaces by renovating existing galleries. This procurement process, classified under 'Museum construction work', utilised a restricted procedure and has now reached the award stage. The project commenced on 21st November 2016, with a completion target set for 14th April 2017. The tender had a total value of £241,243 and was located in London, with the final tender deadline having been on 18th October 2016.

This contract presents a valuable opportunity for construction firms, especially those specialising in museum or cultural space refurbishments. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with experience in interior renovations and strip-out works would be well positioned to engage in similar projects, potentially expanding their portfolios within the heritage and museum sector. The Science Museum Group is a reputable contracting authority known for its significant investment in enhancing public spaces, making this an appealing prospect for businesses looking to grow in this field.

## Notice

As a part of the Science Museum's masterplan, proposals have been put forward to convert the existing galleries on the 4th and 5th floor into a new multifunction events space. The intention is to undertake a full strip out of the existing spaces to form generous and functional arrival spaces with welcoming and informative reception points. Alongside the main events areas on each level there will be new WCs, cloakrooms, lobbies and kitchens to serve the space. The purpose of this enabling works package is to strip out the space and reveal the existing structure prior to the main fit-out refurbishment works. The works will include an extensive strip-out of redundant services, partitions, interior wall and ceiling linings, and exhibition paraphernalia.
