## Summary

The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is inviting tenders for the "17-138 Emergency Carers Service" in the health and social care sector, classified under the CPV code for medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. The tender is currently in the active stage and will close for submissions on 9th March 2018. This service entails providing emergency care within a swift timeframe of up to one hour in situations where informal caregivers are unable to fulfil their care responsibilities. The contract will commence on 1st April 2018 and will extend for three years, concluding on 31st March 2021. This procurement process follows an open procedure, with a total budget of £46,500 available for this service.

This tender presents an opportunity for experienced, registered care providers to engage in the provision of emergency care services, thereby fostering growth in the sector. Businesses that specialise in health and social work services, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs), would be well-positioned to compete effectively for this contract. The demand for flexible and responsive care solutions in emergency situations is increasing, making this a vital opportunity for providers looking to expand their service offerings and client base.

## Notice

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably experienced, Registered Care Providers who can provide standby care to be accessed in an emergency situation for a period of up to 48 hours or 72 hours over a bank holiday. The Carers' Emergency Service will provide care in an emergency situation when the informal carer cannot provide their usual substantial level of care to a relative or friend due to an unforeseen situation such as ill health, accident or admission to hospital. It is expected that care will be provided on the day of the request, within 1 hour if necessary, and may be for short periods of time to undertake specific tasks or for up to 24 hour care in the home. The Provider will replace the care normally provided by the informal carer based on a previously agreed support plan devised as a result of a Carers Assessment and the Carer's registration to the Carers Emergency Scheme. Carer registration to the scheme is administered by RMBC. Arrangements will be made for care to be provided by other means should the informal carer be incapacitated for longer than this period. There is no guarantee of business for Providers under this Agreement. Payment for actual service will be made per activation at the agreed hourly rate by monthly invoice. By entering into this contract the successful Provider must accept all requests for service that fulfil the activation criteria and be able to provide service within an hour of the request if required. Requests may be made outside normal office hours.
