The purpose of this RFI is to gauge market interest and gain feedback via the RFI response form. Please note that this is not a procurement exercise but a means of collecting information from the market to help us inform the Statement of Requirements/Specification for any future procurement opportunity. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends (NG12) urgent abdominal imaging for people who are aged 60 and over with new-onset diabetes (NOD) and weight loss. Evidence suggests currently only 3.5% of people who meet these criteria are being referred for an ultrasound or CT scan within 30 days. There is an intention to run a pilot with the aim to improve the implementation of NG12 by searching patient GP records to identify people aged 60 and over with new-onset diabetes (NOD) and weight loss and invite them for a series of tests to check for early signs of pancreatic cancer. Case finding is expected to lead to a 2.6% - 4.7% impact on pancreatic cancer staging. If this pilot is effective, it could have a significant impact on diagnosis and thus survivability of pancreatic cancer in the future. If diagnosed early (stages 1-2) patients have a greater chance or receiving curative treatment.
