## Summary

The Defra Network eTendering Portal has announced the completion of the NE Hoveton Wetlands Project - Viewing Platform. This project falls under the industry category of construction structures and materials and is located in the United Kingdom. The procurement process was executed using an open method with a budget of £52,600. The tender was published on 15 January 2019, and the contract period spans from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020. The winning bid for the project was awarded to Miles Water Engineering Ltd on 5 March 2019.

This contract presents a substantial opportunity for businesses in the construction and architectural services sector, especially those focused on sustainable design and environmental projects. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-suited to compete for similar future contracts, given their capacity for innovative construction solutions and community-oriented projects. Engaging in such projects can enhance business visibility and contribute to significant growth in the eco-friendly construction market.

## Notice

To create a timber, weather resistant and sustainable viewing platform/tower (Architects designs attached and technical notes below). This will be a place for congregation of groups for teaching and learning about nature and the landscape along the existing board walk. Currently there is a continuous path leading around the reserve, with no area for small groups of people to stop, discuss and observe the surrounding landscape. The viewing platform will be built within an existing clearing where two existing paths converge, to reduce the disturbance onto the landscape. The site proposal is approximately 6m square, although extending marginally beyond this. This space will be sufficient for groups of people to congregate and learn about the reserve but it will not be overly generous which will reduce its implications onto the surrounding landscape. Beneath this platform much needed storage will be located to be facilitated by school groups and by rangers. Depending on space, there is a potential for bench seating to be placed within, on the round, to assist with teaching in adverse weather. The scale of the project is in line with the layout and area which has been defined by the existing site. There will be minimal associated landscaping proposed post construction, the area around the site will be allowed to return and grow back naturally. However, careful plant management will be completed to ensure the structure does not deteriorate too quickly and the making good of existing piling. The proposed platforms appearance has been defined by the plants and trees within the area. Taking the form of a rotunda, relating to the tree trunks in the close vicinity. The vertical boarding which will provide much needed balustrade will also act as a visual buffer between the user and the existing fauna within the area. This visual connection and use of natural materials will assist with creating a homogeneous and sympathetic connection between the site and platform.
