DEPRIVATION OF LIBERTY SAFEGUARDS DOCTORS - SPECIALIST ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITY We are currently looking for Doctors* to undertake Mental Health and/or Mental Capacity assessments as part of DoLS process The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards ("DoLS") Doctor role is central to the promotion of individual human rights and in Cornwall. The DoLS provides protection for vulnerable people, aged 18 and over, who are accommodated in hospitals or care homes in circumstances that amount to a deprivation of their liberty and who lack the capacity to consent to the care or treatment they need. DoLS Doctor work is flexible to fit around other commitments. While the assessment locations will vary across Cornwall (and occasionally some areas in the South West), your work and location is negotiable. If you are interested in this unique specialist assessment opportunity we would first introduce you to our trusted contact provider for the DoLS who will take your application forward formally. About you* You will be a eligible to carry out a mental health assessment according to the DoLS Regulations - 1. approved under section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983(2); OR 2. a registered medical practitioner who the supervisory body is satisfied has at least three years post registration experience in the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorder In addition, you will have successfully completed the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Mental Health Assessors training programme made available by the Royal College of Psychiatrists (N.B. this is an online training package).
