## Summary

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is seeking a technology partner for the "STEP Electrical Connector Technology Development" project, focusing on the innovation of electrical connectors for fusion energy supplies. This procurement, categorised under Electrical Circuit Components, has commenced the Tender stage with an end date for submissions set for 23 February 2021. The total contract value is estimated at £200,000, with minimum financial criteria starting from £150,000. The project will be executed in Abingdon, England, with additional provisions accommodating multiple delivery addresses including British Overseas Territories, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in electrical engineering, circuit technology, and construction materials. Companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), are encouraged to participate and collaborate in developing advanced electrical connector technologies crucial for integrating fusion energy into the national grid. Potential participants should possess expertise in research and experimental development services, as the project necessitates innovative solutions and collaborative efforts with UKAEA to ensure successful outcomes.

## Notice

There is a requirement to develop unique connector(s) to support the commercial development of fusion energy supply, in the longer term to the national grid. The purpose of this procurement package is to support the development of such connector(s) in association with a technology partner. The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) would like to appoint a technology partner or partners for the development of electrical connector technology capable of transferring tens of kilo-Amperes of current at low voltage and at cryogenic temperatures, in consort with very with low electrical resistance and capable of multiple mating/unmating cycles. The development program is expected to be stage-gated and a collaborative effort between the partner(s) and UKAEA with UKAEA providing seed contract funding in an Innovation Partnership framework.
