## Summary

Birmingham City Council is facilitating a procurement process for an educational content writer to develop an online health literacy and well-being curriculum called The Spiral Curriculum. The contract period is set to commence on 9 August 2021 and will last for three months, ending on 30 November 2021. This procurement falls under the 'services' category with a total contract value of £23,985 and will be conducted through an open procedure methodology. Businesses wishing to engage must register with Birmingham City's e-tendering platform, In-Tend, by the deadline of 25 June 2021.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the education and health sectors, particularly those specialising in content development focused on health literacy, nutrition, and physical activity. Companies with experience in community health services are well-suited to compete, especially those targeting young demographics in deprived areas. The aim is to create a healthier population in Birmingham, thus opening avenues for businesses that can provide innovative educational resources and training materials aligned with health improvement initiatives.

## Notice

Birmingham City Council is seeking for a supplier for the provision of an educational content writer for an online health literacy and well-being curriculum known as The Spiral Curriculum. Birmingham is a diverse city with a wide variation in deprivation and ethnicity, it is a young city with 46% of its population aged under 30 years. It aims to: o test the limits of existing powers through innovative and determined action to tackle childhood obesity o share learning and best practice to encourage wider local action o develop solutions to local obstacles and consider further actions government can take to enable ambitious local action and achieve change at scale The Spiral Curriculum is one of three of the workstreams the Council has developed to achieve this goal. The Spiral Curriculum - A health literacy study that integrates the use of apprenticeship levy and training programmes to teach health and well-being content o Focuses on health, food, nutrition and physical activity o Embedded into level 1 to level 7 apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programmes o Works with local universities and providers in Birmingham to embed health messaging in wider employment training o Targets employment opportunities towards 15-19-year olds in the most deprived areas where rates of obesity are highest o Aims to upskill a generation that could apply their knowledge in the home and as future parents The contract will commence August 2021 for a duration of 3 months.
