## Summary

The Satellite Applications Catapult is seeking to enhance the UK space sector through the procurement of an interactive digital tool aimed at visualising complex narratives and stakeholders within this industry. The tender, titled "Provision of an Interactive Digital Tool," is categorised under computer-related equipment and will be taking place in the South East of England. The open procurement process has reached the award stage, with the winning contract awarded to Pufferfish Limited for a total value of £89,273, effective from 17 December 2021 and lasting until 31 March 2025. The deadline for submissions was 3 December 2021.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in software development, interactive technologies, and digital communication. Companies that provide marketing services, educational software, or data-communications equipment would be particularly well-suited to compete, especially those with experience in crafting engaging visual content. As the project supports regional growth and collaboration within the space sector, there are also potential partnerships and funding avenues for small and medium-sized enterprises involved in these fields.

## Notice

The Satellite Applications Catapult's Regional Growth team exists to support the growth of the UK space sector, working with a wide variety of stakeholders from across the country. These stakeholders may be deeply embedded in the sector, with a good understanding of the benefits of space to commercial businesses, while other stakeholder may be completely unaware, or sceptical of the benefits. Businesses may struggle to see how space can help them, and may be unaware of where expertise and support is available, both in their regions and beyond. They may also fail to understand the funding, academic partnerships, opportunities and potential collaborations that are available to them, because of the regional silo's that exist. Effective communication of these challenges and the complex space sector activities taking place across the UK is a challenge and is currently difficult to present to audiences in different locations. We would therefore like to invest in multi-touch interactive digital tool that enables us to visualise the UK space sector, the stakeholders within it, and the space themes they can help with - eg, Maritime, Agriculture, Health and Welling, Transport etc. We would like this tool to be capable of presenting complex narratives through the use of visual assets such as video, images and text, while having the potential to support the delivery of both simple and complex content. This may range from the visual manifestation of the Regional Space Ecosystem in the UK and the organisation's within it, through to interactive presentation of large data sets, such as geo-spatial data. We require a device that is relatively mobile in a safe and secure fashion and is built upon a platform that is reliable and well supported, both in terms of expertise and accessibility. We would also like additional software iterations to be available in a cost-effective way that is (within reason) possible to edit locally and in a cost-effective manner. We would expect all initial training to be included, and all warranty and licensing to be made clear and transparent by the vendor. It is also vital that the hardware can be safely moved and set up in different locations, while being relatively simple to operate by all members of our team. mobile and inherently interactive, these tools will provide us with a unique way of engaging with an audience and communicating our story, both now and in the future. We do not want to be too prescriptive about the form that this hardware will take, and welcome suggestions that may fulfil this brief.
