## Summary

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Request for Information: BBC Authoritative Internet DNS Solution." This process falls under the industry category of "Internet domain names" (CPV code 72417000) and is aimed at sourcing solutions related to authoritative internet DNS services. The end of the engagement period is set for 15 January 2025. The BBC is seeking preliminary information to inform a potential future procurement exercise. This initiative is set to impact locations including the British Oversea Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, the Rest of the World, and the United Kingdom. Interested suppliers should engage through the BBC’s eSourcing portal as detailed in the engagement notice.

This tender opens significant opportunities for businesses involved in the domain naming industry, particularly those with innovative and comprehensive DNS solutions. SMEs are encouraged to participate, as the BBC aims to understand the landscape of available technological solutions, their costs, and implementation challenges. Businesses capable of providing reliable, scalable, and adaptable DNS solutions will find this an excellent opportunity to establish or expand their relationship with the BBC, potentially influencing the broadcaster's future procurement strategies and operational efficiencies in the internet domain arena.

## Notice

This is a Request for Information ('RFI') in relation to a 'BBC Authoritative Internet DNS Solution'. The BBC would welcome responses to this RFI in order to inform our thinking prior to any potential procurement exercise. Responding to this RFI will allow the BBC to build an understanding of current solutions available in the marketplace, and gain feedback on: 1. the availability of solutions in the marketplace; 2. whether there is one solution to meet the needs, or whether these would need to be met by differing solutions; 3. whether functionality not currently met is on a supplier's roadmap and any cost/timescales associated with building it in; 4. indicative costs and timescales for the on boarding of the solution; 5. support of solution; and 6. any barriers to the implementation of the product/solution. Should you choose to respond to this RFI, the BBC will take on board all other responses to the RFI when shaping any future procurement activity. For the avoidance of doubt, any information provided to the BBC in response to this RFI will be treated as confidential and non-binding. No contract will be awarded as a consequence of this RFI process, however, the BBC anticipates launching a procurement opportunity in the near future. Responding to this RFI is not a prerequisite for participation in a subsequent procurement, nor does it give any advantage in that procurement. The BBC would welcome responses to this RFI in order that the BBC can build an understanding regarding the current and future provision of the project. * * Please submit all questions in relation to this RFI via the BBC's eSourcing portal * * Instructions on how to register and gain access to the portal can be found under 'More Information'.
