## Summary

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has recently concluded the procurement process for a Managed Service Contract concerning the provision of Blood Glucose Monitoring and Ketone Testing Systems and Services at Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services. This tender falls under the medical equipment industry category. The awarded contract, valued at £6,025,892, will commence on 10th December 2024 and run until 9th December 2029. The contract was awarded via a mini competition under the NHS Supply Chain Framework. The service provision will encompass all Trusts served by the network in the South East region of the United Kingdom, integrating a Wi-Fi connected point of care testing solution for both existing and new areas requiring this service.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical equipment and services, particularly those capable of supplying integrated POCT solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are especially encouraged to engage with similar contracts, given their capacity for flexible and innovative service provision. Businesses with expertise in IT data systems integration, training support, and maintenance of medical analysers will find this tender particularly relevant. The inclusion of battery and storage cases, IQC, EQA, and comprehensive service contracts further broadens the scope for specialised suppliers to contribute to improving pathology services within the NHS framework.

## Notice

Award via mini competition utilising the NHS Supply Chain - Laboratory Diagnostics, Point of Care Testing & Pathology Managed Services Framework. The Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services Network (POCT) glucose and ketone service is currently standardised across ASPH, FH, RBH and RSFT with a single device platform for glucose and ketone testing (although not all are enabled for ketone testing). A total of 110 of these are connected via a data manager with the remaining 10 used as standalone devices. BSPS is appointing a managed service provider to supply and install a Wi-Fi-connected POCT solution for both blood glucose and ketones. The solution will cover all Trusts served by the network for existing and new areas that require this service including the POCT team. The solution must include all devices and Wi-Fi connections and the capability to hard wire connections to the current IT Data System. Included as part of the solution are battery and storage cases, internal quality control (IQC), external quality assessment (EQA), training support, IT interfacing as well as service and maintenance contracts.
