## Summary

The SMA technology procurement process is being organised by Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Limited in collaboration with the Smart Motorways Programme Alliance, which includes Highways England and other partners. The procurement falls under the category of vehicle-counting machines and related technology equipment, with a total budget of £75,000,000 across the contracting period from April 12, 2021, to December 31, 2026. Suppliers must register their interest by February 26, 2021, with tenders required to be submitted within a three-week return period. The procurement method is an open procedure, meaning that all interested suppliers can participate.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in electrical, communications, and technology services, especially those with national delivery capabilities. Companies that possess relevant certifications, such as Constructionline Gold, Achilles BC Level 4, or CAS audit accreditation, would be particularly well-placed to compete for these contracts. The scope of work encompasses various tasks, including the installation and commissioning of technology infrastructure, as well as the supply and installation of street lighting and signage. This aligns well with industry players seeking to expand their operations in the transport and technology sectors.
