## Summary

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has recently completed a procurement process for the project titled "Work with the NMC Council and Executive in response to issues highlighted by Black Lives Matter." This initiative falls under the industry category of human resources management consultancy services and is located in London, United Kingdom. The procurement method used was a limited tender, specifically a competitive quotation below the threshold, and the contract was awarded for £31,200. The contract period began on 25 January 2021 and ends on 24 July 2021. The tender was published on 22 January 2021, and the tender period for submission ended on 11 December 2020.

This project presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those focused on human resources, diversity consulting, or social impact initiatives. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-suited to compete, as the NMC has expressed a commitment to addressing issues of discrimination and racism within its workforce. Engagement in this tender could allow businesses to contribute to vital societal change while expanding their portfolios and fostering growth through impactful work with a key public authority.

## Notice

Our registrants and our own workforce are more ethnically diverse than general population. The murder of George Floyd in the USA, the Black Lives Matter protests around the world and the disproportionate impact of Covid19 on the Black, Asian and minority ethnic population and in particular the health and social care workforce, have all had a significant impact on colleagues at the NMC and among the professionals on our register. These events have brought issues of discrimination and racism to the fore and have raised challenging questions that the Council (our Board) and senior team are committed to addressing. NMC require assistance to ensure the Council and the senior team are able to fully understand the issues we need to address and take meaningful action that will make a difference for all colleagues working at the NMC.
