## Summary

The Defra Network eTendering Portal has released a tender titled "CEFAS22-97 RFQ for a Seabass Evidence Review" for marine research services. The procurement stage is currently active with a tender value of £30,000. The deadline for tender submission is October 12, 2022. The contract period is set to start on October 14, 2022, and end on March 31, 2023. The procurement method for this open procedure is an open procedure (below threshold). This tender presents an opportunity for businesses interested in marine research services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are well-suited to compete, given the suitability criteria. Businesses knowledgeable in synthesising existing studies and identifying evidence gaps on sea bass and similar species would be particularly well-placed to submit competitive bids. The collaboration with the Defra Network eTendering Portal provides potential bidders with a direct point of contact, further facilitating engagement in the tender process.

## Notice

The aim of this RFQ is to assess the current state of sea bass evidence and identify what is needed to generate a robust evidence-base to support future management of this important fish stock. Sea bass has been researched intensively for the past 50 years with many new studies in recent years. This task will involve synthesising the existing evidence on sea bass and identifying gaps that need to be filled. The output of this will be a report that will be used to support delivery of the FMP evidence statement and, if possible, develop a manuscript for publication. The Tenderer will collate existing studies of sea bass and, where relevant, other similar species using a structured approach from both publications and grey literature (e.g. unpublished reports, ICES outputs) on the biology, ecology and fisheries of sea bass in the UK and Europe. Search terms and locations will be clearly defined in advance and follow a systematic review approach. For each of the topic areas, the current state of knowledge should be synthesised and used to identify key evidence gaps that need to be filled.
