## Summary

The NHS Shared Business Services is facilitating the procurement of urgent treatment centre (UTC) services in Ealing. This process, classified under health services, involves a contract valued at £1,822,784, extending a previous five-year agreement to ensure the continuity of care during a period of structural change in the local health system. The procurement method is a direct single tender action, and the contract modification is set to begin on 26 April 2021, lasting until 27 October 2021. The contract extension has been deemed necessary to maintain critical services while a review of care models is undertaken.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses within the healthcare services sector, particularly those with experience in urgent care provisions. As the contract involves a large incumbent provider, potential competitors should consider demonstrating their capacity to deliver effective and efficient urgent care solutions. Companies that can swiftly adapt their service offerings to align with the evolving needs of the NHS, especially in light of pressures from the COVID-19 pandemic, would be particularly well-suited to engage in this procurement process.

## Notice

Urgent treatment centre (UTC), GP-led, open at least 12 hours a day, every day, offer appointments that can be booked through 111 or through a GP referral, and equipped to diagnose and deal with many of the most common ailments people attend A&E for. The UTC will also ease the pressure on hospitals, leaving other parts of the system free to treat the most serious cases. Additional information: Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the cases listed below The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the regulations Explanation: Along with 7 other CCGs in the area, NHS Ealing CCG is to be incorporated into a new CCG from 1st April 2021 - North West London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). A period of review is required from April 2021 to agree the future model of care and to identify the commissioning strategies for urgent care services across NW London for the coming year and beyond. The existing contract is therefore being modified to extend its duration for an interim period of 6 months in order to enable this review to take place. This modification is necessary to ensure continuity of these critical urgent care services for local patients. The CCG has considered its obligations under the NHS (Procurement Patient Choice and Competition) (No.2) Regulations 2013 and assesses that the incumbent provider offers the safest solution to ensure this continuity at this time, particularly having regard to the priorities and resource pressures associated with the local NHS response to COVID-19. This contract modification is assessed to be proportionate and lawful under Regulation 72(1)(b)
