## Summary

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra Network eTendering Portal) has completed a tender titled "Risk Management Evaluation & Socioeconomic Impacts of MCCPs being added to the Stockholm Convention" in the services category. The procurement method used was an open procedure (below threshold), with the tender period ending on 28 July 2022 and the contract period lasting from 2 September 2022 to 10 October 2023. The location for this tender is in London, United Kingdom, with a focus on assessing the impacts of adding medium chain chlorinated paraffins to the Stockholm Convention.

This tender by Defra presents opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and various businesses in the services sector involved in IT services, consulting, software development, and internet support. The scope of the project involves evaluating the economic, social, and environmental impacts of proposed changes, offering a chance for businesses to contribute expertise in risk management and regulatory compliance. Businesses with experience in environmental assessments and sustainable practices would be well-suited to compete and partner with Defra to address the potential implications of the proposed ban on medium chain chlorinated paraffins.

## Notice

To determine the economic, social, and environmental impacts and risks of the proposal to add chlorinated paraffins, with carbon chain lengths in the range C14-17 and chlorination levels at or exceeding 45 per cent chlorine by weight, to the Stockholm Convention. This group is referred to as medium chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs). The UK has nominated MCCPs to be listed as a Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP), which if successful will result in a global ban on their production and use. Therefore, Defra needs to understand the uses, alternatives, and potential implications of a ban for the UK
