## Summary

The NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit is conducting a procurement for the "North Staffordshire Community Tier 2 Ophthalmology Service," aimed at providing essential eye care services across the West Midlands region, specifically for patients registered with local GPs. This is an active tender currently in the Open procurement stage, with the submission deadline set for 1st April 2020. The contract is expected to commence on 1st October 2020 and will last until 30th September 2023. The process adheres to the light touch regime outlined in the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and invites participation on the Midlands and Lancashire CSU e-procurement portal.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for healthcare providers, particularly smaller enterprises and SMEs, specialising in ophthalmology or related health services. Companies poised to succeed in this competitive environment would typically offer services that align with the specified required elements, such as glaucoma referral refinement, minor eye care services, and pre/post-operative cataract care. Collaborating closely with partner organisations will be crucial to ensure a seamless patient pathway, thereby enhancing the chances for successful bidders to contribute meaningfully to local healthcare provision while driving business growth.

## Notice

This is offered on a basis of direct referral to patients registered with GPs contracted with these CCGs. Services are available for service users registered with a general practitioner in North Staffordshire CCG and Stoke on Trent CCG. Commissioners wish to undertake a procurement exercise to appoint a single prime provider to deliver Tier 2 ophthalmology services. Community Tier 2 services will consist of 5 elements: - glaucoma referral refinement (GRR), - minor eye care services (MECS), - pre/post-operative cataract, - paediatric shared care, - ocular hypertension (OHT) and suspect glaucoma.
