## Summary

The procurement process titled "Virtual Reality Oracle" is commissioned by the University of Bristol, focusing on artistic services, specifically creating a virtual reality experience of oracular divination at the ancient Greek site of Dodona. The tender was first published on 22 October 2020, and the contract was awarded on 11 December 2020, with a contract period from 5 January 2021 to 4 January 2022. This open procurement method follows an open procedure below the monetary threshold, with an estimated value of £41,666.67 GBP. The tender period concluded on 19 November 2020.

This opportunity can foster significant business growth for experienced VR production companies, particularly those specialising in educational and immersive technologies. Businesses that can effectively showcase their ability to recreate historically significant environments and offer innovative virtual experiences would be especially well-suited to compete in this tender. Engaging in educational projects such as this not only enhances a company's portfolio but also expands their network within academic and cultural institutions.

## Notice

The Virtual Reality Oracle (VRO) is a UK Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded research project led by Professor Esther Eidinow (Classics & Ancient History, University of Bristol), in partnership with Kings College London and the University of Bath. The VRO project seeks to create a first-person virtual reality experience of oracular divination (seeking advice from the Gods) at the ancient Greek site of Dodona during the period circa 450 BCE. The VRO experience will serve primarily as an educational tool and will be used by A-level students, academic researchers and museums to inform, educate and inspire. We seek to commission an experienced VR production company to work with our research team to recreate this important ancient site, the people who worked and visited there, and the process of divination itself. Following competition, the University has selected Friday Sundae Studios as our preferred bidder.
