## Summary

The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking proposals for the "SLaM - Chronic Pain Project Evaluation Study - ST21-P207" in the health services sector, specifically focusing on community health services. This open tender, which falls under the procurement method of 'Open procedure (below threshold)', has a submission deadline of 4th February 2022. The project aims to evaluate a bio-psycho-social approach to chronic pain care primarily for Black communities in Lambeth, London. The contract period is set to commence on 21st February 2022 and will extend until 20th February 2024, with a budget of £70,000 allocated for this study.

Companies with experience in feasibility studies and advisory services, particularly those engaged in addressing health disparities among diverse populations, would be well-suited to contribute. Additionally, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to apply, fostering an inclusive approach to improving health outcomes for chronic pain sufferers in the local community.

## Notice

King's Health Partners (KHP) Mind & Body Programme, with funding from Impact on Urban Health and in partnership with GP practices in Lambeth, is undertaking a project to work predominantly with people from Black communities to co-develop and test a bio-psycho-social approach to caring for people living with chronic pain in primary care. KHP Mind & Body would like to invite interested parties to submit fully costed proposals to carry out the evaluation of the project. Project overview This project aims to co-develop and test a bio-psycho-social approach in primary care to caring for people living with chronic pain. This approach will include screening, GP consultation and support from a mental health practitioner and the voluntary care sector. Chronic pain is one of the most common long-term conditions in England, as well as locally in Lambeth, and research suggests that chronic pain is more prevalent among people from Black backgrounds. There are also a range of factors that contribute to inequalities of patient experience, access and health outcomes for this population. Effort will therefore go into outreach and engagement with people from Black communities to co-develop the approach, working in partnership with a Black-led design partner, and receive support from the service. Project aims: The aims of the project are to: 1. Co-design the bio-psycho-social approach with approx. 20-25 people living with chronic pain and clinicians; 2. Test the feasibility of the community-based intervention to people living with chronic pain, aiming to reach approx. 300 people and working with three GP practices in Stockwell; Test the scale-up of the project to across Stockwell Primary Care Network (PCN), again aiming to reach approx. 300 people, if it proves successful in the first year; 3. Understand the effectiveness and impact of the approach on participants' experience and their health outcomes (in both year 1 and, if applicable, year 2); 4. Understand the impact of the project on the wider system. This opportunity is published on the Health Family eCommercial System (https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome).
