## Summary

The University of Birmingham is currently holding a tender for the supply and installation of an RF Spectrum Analyser, classified under the goods category. The procurement process is at the Tender stage, with a submission deadline set for 28 September 2020. The overall budget for this project is up to £67,000 excluding VAT. The contract period is expected to start on 19 October 2020 and conclude by 30 November 2020. This procurement method follows an open procedure, allowing for competitive bids.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in electronic measurement equipment, particularly those capable of supplying high-quality spectrum analysers. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will find this an attainable opportunity, given the specified budget and the nature of the product required. Companies with expertise in RF technology and measurement devices will be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, potentially opening doors for future collaborations with universities and research institutions.

## Notice

The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply of a spectrum analyser. The frequency range of the RF input should cover 1MHz-25 GHz. A high sensitivity for phase noise measurements is required; when the carrier frequency is 10 GHz, the offset frequency is 1 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -125 dBc(1Hz); when the carrier frequency is 1 GHz, the offset frequency is 10 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -140 dBc(1Hz). The AM noise sensitivity should be better than -145 dBc(1Hz) when the RF input frequency is between 100 MHz and 1 GHz for 1 kHz offset frequency. The measurement speed should be better than 10s when span 1 Hz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset, better than 0.05s when span 1 kHz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset. It should be able to measure Allan variance. The measurement range should cover 100ns to 1 000 000s. Overall budget for this item is up to ?67,000 excluding VAT. This project may be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) or; - European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF) or; - Research Councils UK (RCUK), the strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils.
