## Summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking an independent provider to assist with the management and benchmarking of new battery cathode materials through standard test protocols as part of the FutureCat project. This procurement, initiated as an open tender process, is classified under research and experimental development services with a total contract value of £380,000. The tender period has ended, and the contract is effective from 1st February 2021 and will continue until 31st August 2023. The project is located in Yorkshire and the Humber, and it aims to ensure reliable data management for all academic partners involved.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in research services, particularly those specialising in battery technology and materials testing. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in the development of testing protocols and data management in the context of lithium-ion cells would be well-positioned to compete. The project not only supports the advancement of academic innovation but also promises potential commercialisation partnerships, making it attractive for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as voluntary and community sector enterprises looking to expand their business in this niche market.

## Notice

The University of Sheffield seeks to benchmark the performance of the new cathode materials developed by the FutureCat project in a robust and industrially relevant manner, there is a need to establish standard test methods and data management protocols that can be used by all academic partners. An independent provider of expertise in measurement and testing of battery cathode materials, sitting at the intersection of academic innovation and real world exploitation is required. The aim is to provide assurance to future commercialisation partners that the testing is robust and the results are reproducible. The provider will support the FutureCat project by developing and maintaining a suite of standard protocols for fabrication, testing and post mortem evaluation of Li-ion cells used in the project.
