## Summary

The procurement process involves the buying organisation Newcastle University, which is seeking suppliers for the title "(NU/1061) Supply and Installation of Analysers for Single Cell Genomics and Proteomics." This initiative falls under the industry category of detection and analysis apparatus, specifically targeting biochemical analysers and cytometers. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, with a contract value of £713,638. The contract was awarded to Fluidigm Europe B.V., with the contract period running from 17 August 2015 to 18 August 2016. The delivery is to be made to the Flow Cytometry Core Facility at Newcastle University, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in high-dimensional cytometry systems and microfluidic devices, particularly those engaged in the biomedical and research equipment sectors. Companies with capabilities in advanced laboratory equipment and those who can provide integrated systems for genomic analysis would be well-suited to compete. The collaboration between Newcastle University and the suppliers could foster innovation and contribute to advancements in medical research, particularly for rare diseases and novel therapies.

## Notice

The University has been awarded a grant from The Medical Research Council (MRC) for the purchase of equipment to facilitate research whole genome sequencing and expression studies from single cells and high through-put single cell proteomics. The equipment will be used by internationally recognised researchers to study rare mitochondrial, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal diseases, rare childhood cancers, rare immune deficiencies and novel cell therapies. The tender consists of three lots detailed below: Lot 1: High Dimensional Cytometry System The proposed system will be used within the Newcastle University Single Cell Functional Genomic Unit (NUSCU), a Faculty- wide facility based within the FMS and for collaborative work between the Flow Cytometry Core Facility (FCCF) and the Next Generation Sequencing Facility (NGSF). The system will be used to facilitate the high-dimensional (30 parameters) measurements of extracellular and intracellular proteins on and within single cells using monoclonal antibody technology in a high-throughput manner. Lot 2: Microfluidic device for the partitioning and parallel processing of single cells for genomic and expression analysis applications and a system enabling single cell genotyping and gene expression analysis The proposed microfluidic device will be used within the NUSCU. The device will be used to process single cell samples for a range of downstream analysis applications including targeted gene expression, next-generation DNA sequencing and whole transcriptome. The system will be used within NUSCU. The system will be used for high-throughput single cell genotyping and gene expression analysis.
