In addition, the high voltage cable feed to the substation has several joints that must be reduced under this project. The contractor will expose between 10 to 15 metres of the cable from the roadway where one joint exists up to the substation perimeter where there is an opening to draw a new section of cable into the substation cable channel. During the installation of the new high voltage cable, the substation earthing will be improved with an earth tape installed alongside the high voltage cable feed as the existing earthing arrangements are old and not to an acceptable standard. The above scope of works can readily be prepared prior to a final connection (joinings and terminations).
