## Summary

The procurement process titled "Review of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Assets (FD2730)" is initiated by the Defra Network eTendering Portal, focusing on the water management industry. It aims to assess statutory and non-statutory responsibilities linked to flood and coastal erosion management across the UK and British Overseas Territories. The tender procedure is open and is currently in the planning stage, with a deadline for submissions set for 31 January 2022. The resultant contract, expected to begin on 7 March 2022, will run for two years, concluding on 7 March 2024.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental consultancy, research services, and flood management solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate. Companies with expertise in flood prevention works and related fields are well-positioned to leverage this opportunity for business growth and to contribute to the government's efforts in mitigating climate impacts and enhancing community safety.

## Notice

1. The government is committed to driving down flood and coastal erosion risk from every angle, building a country that is better protected and better prepared for the future. These risks are becoming more prevalent, with the rise in climate change and population growth. Consequently, it is important for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) powers, duties, roles, and responsibilities to be clear and understood; especially in relation to assets that mitigate these risks. 2. This research project will review statutory powers and responsibilities associated with FCERM assets across all flood risks (rivers, sea, surface water and groundwater) and coastal erosion. The research project must also capture riparian landowners and asset owners, who often have non-statutory powers and responsibilities to manage and maintain assets and watercourses in England. 3. This research project will cover three main strands: - FCERM assets - Coastal powers and responsibilities - Surface water flood risk assets and management Additional information: Please register using the Bravo Portal. The details are shown below.
