For parliamentary elections, the Thirsk and Malton constituency covers a much bigger area of 825 sq miles, with 130 polling stations, 78,000 electors and 10,000 postal voters. It also supports the Electoral Registration Officer in running the annual canvass of 26,000 households and delivering year round voter registration and absent voting work. The Council is looking to put in place a contract for Election Printing services for a 24 month period - this is expected to cover 2 canvasses and 2 scheduled elections (though this may change if politics determine an extra election(s) is required. The projected contract start date being December 2019-January 2020.
