## Summary

The Essex County Council is planning a Carbon Offsetting Market Engagement initiative, aimed at working with landowners to transition to sustainable land use and food production. This project seeks to develop nature-based projects selling ecosystem services like carbon and biodiversity, supporting the county of Essex in achieving carbon net zero. Interested organisations in woodland and soil carbon units in Essex are encouraged to participate in this soft market engagement opportunity.

This tender by Essex County Council presents an avenue for organisations interested in environmental improvement works and environmental services to explore business opportunities. The initiative is well-suited for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations operating in the United Kingdom, particularly those involved in environmental management and protection.

## Notice

ECC is working with a number of landowners to support them to transition to sustainable land use and food production and is looking at ways to make sustainable land use a financially viable option. To do this, we are helping them develop nature-based projects that can generate ecosystem services (carbon, biodiversity, water) they can then sell to interested organisations. This will help the county of Essex achieve the target of reaching carbon net zero, provide diversified income to local farmers and support food production by improving soils, while providing multiple other social benefits. We have identified potential woodland carbon projects as well as soil carbon projects that can sequester tens of thousands of tonnes of CO2e and wish to explore the appetite of private and public sector organisations in purchasing high integrity, local carbon offsets. We would be interested to hear from organisations interested in both woodland carbon units and soil carbon units. Meetings will be booked with selected shortlisted organisations to either discuss further your service offering or potential upcoming opportunities for your organisation. *Please note this is a soft market engagement opportunity to understand organisations operating in Essex who are interested in woodland carbon units and soil carbon units; it is not a tender opportunity* In order to view the information pack, please visit the ProContract web portal, log in as a Supplier and search for the following opportunity: DN677279 / Carbon Offsetting Market Engagement ProContract can be accessed through: https://procontract.due-north.com/Login If you do not have an account, supplier registration is free of charge and also enables you to view business opportunities with other registered organisations: https://procontract.due-north.com/Register
