## Summary

The procurement process involves Newcastle University seeking to procure a "full spectrum" spectral flow cytometer with high-throughput capabilities. This tender, referenced as NU/1601, falls under the industry category of instruments for checking physical characteristics and has a total value of £490,000. The procurement method utilised is an open procedure. The contract period commences on 4th November 2020 and concludes on 5th January 2021. The tender process is complete, with the final submission deadline having been set for 12:00 GMT on 12th October 2020.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the scientific equipment sector, particularly those specialising in biomedical instruments and flow cytometry technology. Companies capable of delivering high-performance equipment with robust after-sales support and warranties are well-positioned to compete. The demand for advanced scientific tools that facilitate high-parameter multiplexing and sample acquisition will likely attract both established manufacturers and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to make their mark in the market.

## Notice

The University has recently been awarded a Wellcome Trust Multi-user equipment grant and wants to purchase a "full spectrum" spectral flow cytometer system with a clear and demonstrable ability to measure highly multiplexed fluorescent probes bound to mammalian cell targets, in a high-throughput manner. The spectral cytometer will be housed in the Newcastle Flow Cytometry Core Facility (NU-FCCF) within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Biosciences Institute. The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows: * To allow high parameter multiplexing (>35 parameters) of widely available reagents (such as fluorophore bound antibodies) targeting mammalian cells with a particular focus on cell types/markers implicated in infection and immunity. * To be able to detect and differentiate between spectrally similar as well distinct fluorophores bound to probes at the single cell level. * To be able to provide high-throughput sample acquisition in the form of an integrated 96 well (minimum) sampler system in order to meet the high through put demands of a scientific core facility. * To be able to measure cellular auto-fluorescence as a defined parameter and to allow for the subtraction of this signal to improve measurement resolution. The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment as detailed in the Invitation to Tender document to the University, with after-sales support and 60 months warranty and maintenance. Expressions of interest in this project can be made by registering via the University's e-tendering portal at: https://procontract.due-north.com/Advert/Index?advertId=eb15438b-85f2-ea11-8105-005056b64545 The contract reference is NU/1601. The deadline for submitting a tender is 12.00 GMT (midday) on Monday 12th October 2020
