The project involves several universities (Cambridge, Glasgow, UCL, Imperial, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton and Warwick) and aims to achieve a comprehensive understanding of degradation processes in electric-vehicle batteries, and it will work in collaboration with the other three Faraday Fast Start projects to build the next generation of batteries for electric vehicle applications as part of the UK's industrial strategy. The work at Southampton will take place in Chemistry (Electrochemistry section), at the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences.
