The procurement process being summarised is the "Public Health Practitioner Development Programme Support Programme" initiated by the South of England Procurement Services. This tender falls under the category of personal development training services, specifically addressing the needs of public health practitioners within the Wessex region of the United Kingdom. The procurement stage is currently awarded, with the contract commencing on 1st July 2016 and concluding on 30th June 2018. The total value of the contract is £98,000, and it was awarded on 28th June 2016. Businesses interested in this opportunity should note that the procurement method used was an open procedure, with previous submission deadlines for proposals in May 2016.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for companies specialising in training and development services, particularly those with experience in public health and practitioner registration processes. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be well suited to engage in this bid, provided they have the necessary accreditations and expertise, specifically in understanding UKPHR standards. The support programme aims to enhance the professional registration of public health practitioners, creating pathways for growth and providing services that foster career development within the sector.

## Notice

Public health practitioners are those people in the public health workforce who spend much or all of their time in public health practice working at a minimum of level 5 or equivalent of the PHSKF (Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework). They may work across the full breadth of public health from health improvement and health protection, to health information, community development, and nutrition, in a wide range of settings from local government and the NHS to the voluntary, and private sector. Regulation and registration of the workforce provides assurances to the employer and the public of the practitioner's competencies along with supporting the individual to gain formal recognition within a profession, supporting career development. The Public Health Practitioner (PHP) programme is a professional development programme which allows individuals working in public health to become a registered Practitioner with the UKPHR. Public Health Practitioner registration is at Level 5/6 of the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (PHSKF). The Public Health Practitioner Schemes are delivered as local schemes within specific geographic areas. The Wessex scheme (see appendix 1) is funded by Health Education England - Wessex and is managed and delivered by the Wessex School of Public Health. The Wessex region covers Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset and Salisbury. The scheme was established in 2010 and since then has supported over 100 practitioners to work towards professional registration. The Wessex support programme is a fundamental aspect of the public health practitioner scheme which enables individuals to develop their portfolio for registration. Following the independent evaluation of the scheme, learning from this has informed the development of this specification. This procurement is for the delivery of two cohorts over 2016/17 and 2017/18. Please note provider MUST be: * The main provider will be current and active UKPHR accredited Assessor or Verifier. * All group facilitators will have received UKPHR Assessor training ensuring they have an understanding of the assessment process. * Working knowledge of UKPHR standards, indicators and process for the registration of PH Practitioners.
