The Council is the UK-wide statutory regulator of around 115,000 members of the dental team. The procurement stage is a tender, with a deadline for expressions of interest by midnight on 15 September 2023. The contract value is £3,000,000 GBP and the tender period ends on 31 January 2024. The contract will run from 1 October 2024 to 1 October 2029. This opportunity is open to businesses interested in delivering the Overseas Registration Exam Part 1. The General Dental Council, based in London, is the buying organisation for this procurement and can be contacted at procurement@gdc-uk.org for more information. ## Notice This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to give advance notice that the General Dental Council (GDC) intends to undertake a tendering exercise for the provision of an Overseas Registration Exam Part 1 contract. The GDC is the UK-wide statutory regulator of around 115,000 members of the dental team. The primary objective of the GDC is to protect the public. The work of the GDC is governed by the Dentists Act 1984 (as amended), which establishes our duty to maintain a register of dental professionals and establishes the criteria and routes to registration. The Act requires holders of recognised overseas diplomas to demonstrate that they have the necessary knowledge and skill to be registered by the GDC. All holders of a diploma in dentistry from outside the UK, EEA or Switzerland, must first pass the ORE's before being eligible for registration with the GDC. The ORE is a safety-related test of competence that provides assurance to the GDC that an individual is trained, skilled and competent. Following successful completion of the ORE (parts 1 and 2), registration with the GDC allows dentists to practise dentistry in the UK. The GDC is looking for a supplier or group of suppliers that can provide an effective approach to the administration and delivery of the OREP1 that will provide additional flexibility in capacity to meet peaks and troughs in the demand. If you are interested (or potentially interested) in providing the delivery and administration of the ORE P1, please let us know by completing the expression of interest form available for download via the Delta eSourcing Portal and return it to us by midnight on 15 September 2023, via the Delta e-Sourcing message facility. At this stage, we are interested in understanding more about the potential size of the market that would be interested in delivering the services. The GDC reserves the right to undertake further pre-procurement activities such as early market engagement, which may include engaging with suppliers on a one to one or group bases, in writing or face to face (via MS Teams).
