## Summary

The Buckinghamshire Thames NFM Project, overseen by Buckinghamshire Council, aims to explore and develop Natural Flood Management (NFM) options within the Thames River catchment area in Buckinghamshire, focusing on seven tributary catchments. This initiative falls under the "Research and experimental development services" industry category and aims to manage and reduce flood risk through engagements with landowners and detailed design and implementation of NFM measures. The project, funded by the Thames Regional Flood Risk and Coast Committee and commissioned to Thames21 Consortium, officially began its contract period on 22 July 2024 and will continue until 31 December 2026, with significant milestones already resulting in an active award announced on 5 July 2024.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses involved in flood risk management, environmental services, and miscellaneous services. Companies with expertise in sustainable land management and environmental consulting will find this project particularly lucrative. The engagement and implementation phases of the programme provide a platform for firms to showcase innovative NFM solutions, thereby solidifying their presence in the sector and potentially opening doors to further public and private contracts. Given Buckinghamshire Council's proactive approach and the project's comprehensive scope, businesses with capabilities in public engagement and environmental design are well-suited to compete and contribute to this significant regional initiative.

## Notice

The Buckinghamshire (Thames) NFM project aims to explore potential opportunities and benefits of Natural Flood Management (NFM) in the Thames River catchment in Buckinghamshire, particularly in 7 tributary catchments. We have secured funding, via the Local Levy from the Thames Regional Flood Risk and Coast Committee (RFCC) to explore flood risk resilience in the catchments. The project commissioned Thames21 Consortium to deliver public engagement and identify the economic viability options for each location. The project is divided into Part A and B. Part A comprises landowner engagement and NFM design development. Part B consists of continued landowner engagement, detailed design, and implementation of measures. Part A aims to identify, assess, and prioritise NFM options that help manage and reduce flood risk from mainly surface water runoff and groundwater, where possible while offering environmental net gain as part of a project pipeline development. The outputs of Part A will be used to inform the business case development to secure the funding for Part B of the project.
